I am Associate Professor of English at The Ohio State University. My first book, The Extinct Scene: Late Modernism and Everyday Life (Columbia University Press, "Modernist Latitudes Series," 2016), tracks the forms of aesthetic mediation in literature and visual culture during the geopolitical crises of midcentury. My current research and teaching interests include energy and environmental humanities, modern and contemporary literature and culture, and aesthetic theory. This site collects information about my research projects, teaching and outreach endeavors, and an ongoing "Field Notes" blog related to my current project Unnatural Attachments: Aesthetic Education for the Anthropocene.
